Daily 5 ® for Middle School Newsletter?

The school year is well underway and our Reading Essentials Class is going well.  I'm in my second 6-week session now.  I am learning so much as we are in our third year of using the Daily 5 ® format for middle school.

I have heard from many teachers across the United States who are attempting to use Daily 5 ® at the middle school level as well.  I believe we can be a resource for each other.

I have quite a list of teachers who have emailed me with questions.  As I try to think of the best way to answer the questions, I think we can be a support system for each other.

I am going to start producing a newsletter addressing the specific issues we face as middle school teachers.  Are you interested in getting on my newsletter list?  If so, please let me know and I'll add you to the list.

The first edition will come out right after Christmas.  Things are just too crazy between now and then to even thinking of adding anything else to my plate.  Do you feel the same way?

  1. Hey Brenda, I'm thinking about using the Daily 5 in my future language arts classroom and would love to receive your newsletter so I can get ideas for how to structure it at the middle school level. Congrats to your third year of using the Daily 5!

  2. Miss Munoz, Thank you for your comments. I still haven't gotten my first newsletter published. Teaching my classes has taken all of my time. But I still want to get it going. For right now, I'll use this blog to post my comments. Please send me your email so I can put you on the list for future newsletters. Thanks, Brenda

  3. I'm late to the party, but still hope to get involved. I will be teaching reading intervention classes again next year and would like to adopt the Daily5/CAFE methods. The variety of things I tried this year worked to an extent, but I think my kids would grow more with more independent reading. I would like to be added to your newsletter list.
    thanks

  6. I am a seventh grade language arts teacher whose AR (Accelerated Reader) Program has been discontinued at the end of this school year. I am looking for ideas to continue their independent reading and this may be it. Would purchasing the DAily 5 benefit me since it's geared toward elementary?

Please add me to the list of the newsletter.
